There have been some questions on teams and schedules for robotics and I wanted to provide some insight.
During the 2015-2016 school year robotics students will be organized into teams of four to seven players. Team members will need to be in the same age group – either Middle School or High School. Some players have hand-picked their teammates and written names down on their registration form while other teams will be formed after the registration night.
After the registration information has been collected we will work to coordinate teams based on their selection, then by experience level and school. It’s not a perfect science but we do our best to distribute the teams so each player has the best learning opportunity.
After the teams are established it will be up to the team and their coach to determine their meeting schedule. The team will also need to choose one of three Early Fall leagues which will be on Tuesday or Thursday evening, or Saturday morning. Once a team picks a 5 week league they must stay with that league schedule.
We expect that the team meetings will happen at the Hudsonville Robotics Center (HRC) so students have access to parts and resources. The HRC is scheduled to be open Monday – Thursday from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM starting Sept 16. We will also be hosting workshops to help coaches and students learn the necessary skills. We will post this information as it becomes available.
This is a tentative schedule and may change as necessary.
