While the past year we had an male dominated group I wanted to share that Robotics competition keeps a level playing field between the genders.
Hudsonville Team 8153B took the tournament finalist award by coming in second and also took second in the Programming Skills challenge. First place in Programming Skills was team 216D – an all girls team from Grandville, MI. We have competed regularly with the Grandville teams and they can hold their own with competition, judging interviews, building and programming.
What I hope to communicate is that Women in Technology is gaining momentum and maybe we shouldn’t forget about our daughters when considering our kids for the robotics programs.
