Hudsonville is implementing its REC Foundation RAD Aerial Drones program starting in February 2019. We are testing the program with 11 middle and high school teams. This will be a new and fun experience for everyone involved.
RAD is a pilot program (no pun intended) for the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation and Michigan has been selected as one of the territories for testing. This year involves racing drones through a timed, gated course ( a much tamer version of the Drone Racing League) and a package delivery challenge. The drones can be piloted by a remote control or programmed to fly autonomously.
The initial program was offered to students active in the Hudsonville Robotics middle and high school programs. As we gain experience we plan to expand it to the rest of the community.
Grandville Robotics will be hosting a few RAD tournaments on February 8 (9 am and noon – preparation starts one hour earlier) at the Grandville High School so we encourage interested students to stop out to see this event in action. Links to morning and afternoon events.
